The role of the diet is a key factor in the prevention of dental disease. By reducing sugar intake, especially in between meals, we can substantially reduce decay and other medical problems. The problem is that sugar is hidden in many foods. Working together, with a commitment from you, good tooth brushing, a sensible diet and high quality dental care from our dental team, it should be possible for you to have a healthy, comfortable decay-free mouth forever.Tooth decay is caused by the interaction of sugar and dental plaque (the sticky film of bacteria on the surface of the teeth).

Dentures are prostheses made to replace missing teeth. They are removable. They can be made in acrylic (plastic) or in acrylic over a metal framework (cobalt chrome or gold). Dentures can be used to improve function and appearance. Although they are sometimes seen as a rather dated treatment, dentures can be a very effective approach to tooth replacement due to their relative simplicity when compared with other more complex treatment options such as bridges or implants.They usually involve no tooth preparation and it is generally very straight forward to make further additions should other teeth be lost later on.

We believe that it is possible, with care, to keep your teeth for life. Gum disease and tooth decay can be prevented whatever your age. Fluoridated toothpaste and fluoridated mouth rinses can help to protect your teeth and reduce sensitivity. Older people are often prescribed medicines and tablets which can cause a dry mouth (xerostomia) as a side effect.
