Berkeley Clinic Dental implants are increasing in popularity as a result of their reliability, great design, ability to change peoples life, and the 95% success rate they have. Dental implants are designed to replace missing, damaged or decaying teeth and can significantly improve your smile and self-esteem. They are also indispensable in enabling you to have a fulfilling life unrestricted by damaged teeth.

Dental implants are considered the Gold standard in cosmetic and surgical dentistry. They are a safe and long-lasting solution to your dental problems. Their design consists of a titanium fixture that is placed into the bone, replacing the root canal of the tooth. On top of the fixture is placed a permanent restoration, which is completed by a dental crown. Dental implants are extremely reliable and can last a lifetime. That is the reason why more and more people prefer to have a dental implant fixed.

Berkeley Clinic offer some of the best orthodontist services in Glasgow and can provide quality dental implants to Glasgow residents. We are well-aware that the process of getting a dental implant fitted could appear difficult to understand and quite overwhelming. That is why we created a short overview of what the procedure involves. If you are looking for dental implants Glasgow orthodontists can offer, then Berkeley Clinic is the place to go. These are the 7 simple steps involved in getting a dental implant fitted with us.

Step 1: Planning
The first step to getting a dental implant is planning. This involves a consultation with a dentist who is going to evaluate your general health and the local health of your teeth and jaw. There are some conditions which can lower the chances of success of the implant. These include poor oral hygiene, heavy smoking, diabetes, gum diseases, long term steroid use, osteoporosis and others. All these affect the gums condition and the jaw bones. A consultation with a dentist is required to assess whether a dental implant is the most suitable solution for you.

Step 2: CT or CAT scan
Next step is getting a CT or CAT scan. This enables the dentist to plan the procedure in great detail and find the optimal positioning of the dental implant. This is very important to reduce the chance of failure as the implant needs to be well positioned to handle the pressure it will be exposed to. The CT or CAT scan is used to get a scan of the jaws and any existing dentures. This data is then entered into a CAD/CAM software that helps to plan the surgery. In complex surgeries the CT scanning helps to identify and avoid damaging vital structures which helps ensure the safety of the patient.

Step 3: The Surgery
Most dental implants are placed following the same procedure. First the soft tissue is reflected. This involves making an incision over the crest of the bone and splitting the attached gingiva in half to ensure that the dental implant will have a thick band of tissue around it. The edges of the tissue are pushed back to expose the bone. Next part of the procedure is drilling. This involves the use of a surgical guide or stent with which pilot holes are placed. These are drilled with regulated high speed and with high precision to avoid pressure necrosis and burning of the bone. Next step involves drilling at a low speed and is used to expand the pilot hole. Different size drills are use depending on the width and length of the implant. The procedure is done with a sedative and the patient does not experience pain. After this, the dental implant is placed. It is screwed in the bone with a precise torque. Final step of the surgery is the tissue adaptation with the gingiva adapted around the dental implant and providing a band of tissue around the healing abutment.

Step 4: Timing
There are a few variations regarding fitting implants after the extraction of the teeth. The first one is Immediate post-extraction implant placement which is done right after the tooth has been removed. The second is Delayed immediate post-extraction implant placement and takes place 2 weeks to 3 months after the extraction. The last one is called late implantation and is done 3 months or more after the tooth is removed.

Step 5: Healing
The dental implant needs time to become permanently stable. This procedure involves the body growing bone to the surface of the implant, a process called osseointegration. The time allowed for healing depends on the density of the bone and the number of implants splinted together and will be specific for the individual patient.

Step 6: Recovery
Next step involves securing dental crowns on the implant fixture. This phase begins once the implant has been well integrated and an abutment is placed. There are three main types of procedures when attaching the teeth and dental crowns to the dental implant depending on the timing. First option is immediate loading procedure taking place right after the fitting of the implant. Second option is early loading, which is done 1 week to 12 weeks after the implant fitting. And last option is delayed loading which is done after more than 3 months after fitting the implant. In many cases the dentist may place a temporary teeth until the osseointegration has been confirmed. An abutment will be selected according to the individual case and application. Very often a custom one will be made. This is done by a dental lab that fabricates both the abutment and the crown.

Step 7: Maintenance
After the procedure of fitting the dental implant is completed the last step is maintenance. The dental implant needs to be cleaned regularly to remove plaque. It should be noted that the implants will lose bone in a similar rate to natural teeth in the mouth and that porcelain crowns could discolour, fracture or require repair approximately every 10 years. However this time will differ according to the position of the crown in the mouth and the forces applied on it. General oral hygiene rules like cleaning you teeth twice a day and flossing apply. You should also visit your dentist every 3 to 6 month for regular cleaning. Ensure that your dentist has experience and the necessary equipment for dental implants maintenance. It is also your dentist who can recommend suitable cleaning options. If you take proper care of your dental implants they can last a lifetime

The best dentists I've been to. I had a treatment done by Heather and she was so great. The clinic itself is lovely and so are all the staff. There's such an attention to detail at the Berkeley clinic and I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

I cannot praise Maaria and the Berkekey clinic enough. I have been having Botox and fillers for 15 years and Maaria is by far the best. She is gentle, pain free and delivers great looking, natural results every time. I also had Botox for grinding which has transformed my life, I now do not suffer from daily pain and headaches. Would highly recommend.

For the first time ever I haven't felt a thing, throughout the process of restoration of my tooth, that chipped off a year ago. Greig and assistant nurse were amazing, can't wait to get back, for aesthetic work. Thank you

I would love to say a massive thank you to Dr Maria Trianti. Recently I had a wobbly tooth and was more than sure I was going to loose it. This truly horrified me as it was close to the front of my mouth. Turns out that this tooth was an implant and even more worrying it was done abroad. Failure was not an option for Dr Maria Trianti, she managed to work complete magic by drilling the tiniest hole to find a hidden screw and then tighten it. This took patience, precession, expertise and a little magic. Feeling grateful and lucky. Thank you so much. I highly recommend The Berkley Clinic.

The BEST dentist that I have ever been to! Greig was honestly amazing and very confidence-inspiring. I am quite nervous around dentists usually and have had many bad experiences, however, Berkeley Clinic is completely different and has cutting-edge, novel technologies to help people with sensitive teeth - which is honestly so refreshing. Really highly recommend to anyone!

For over a year I've been experiencing a lot of pain with my wisdom teeth, after being told the problem could only be resolved through a surgical procedure and being put on an extremely long waiting list, I decided to contact and ask if Mike was able to help me in any sort of way. Not only was he able to identify what the problem was and remove my back wisdom tooth instantly, he made my first dental procedure a very pain free, simple experience.

I was extremely nervous about having my tooth removed but Mike and his lovely dental nurse were amazing in calming me and making my experience as easy as possible. I cannot thank Mike enough for giving me an instant relief of a problem I have been struggling with for a long time, and being so comforting of my nerves.

For three and a half years I have been aware of clenching and grinding my teeth during the night, although I suspect that I have been doing it for longer. I saw Mike Gow for help at the Berkley Clinic for hypnosis and I also got a Sleep Clench Inhibitor mouthguard fitted. I am very happy to say that both are working really well, and they have made a such a positive difference to my day-to-day quality of life.

I no longer have sore teeth, gums or jaws when waking up or through the day. The hypnosis taught me some effective strategies to use to train myself to stop clenching. Mike also has a recording on the 'Your Dentist Recommends' website which I listen to a couple of times a week as I go to sleep, this really helps too- I love it! Things are such a lot better now, I honestly wish I had sought help for bruxism much, much sooner. The Berkeley clinic is amazing. Mike Gow has a great manner- he is nice and calm and is extremely capable at what he does.

As a phobic patient who avoided the dentist for years, I urge any similar sufferers to contact The Berkeley's Dr Mike Gow. I have severe health anxiety and found dental visits impossible. I was also unable to get the Covid vaccine & had been trapped alone indoors with an abscess since the start of the pandemic. None of the therapy or anxiety management protocols I had been trying were making any difference and in desperation I searched online where I found The Berkeley Clinic.

I'm now fortunate enough to be one of Mike's patients and my quality of life has been transformed. The clinic is elegant & pristine (think boutique hotel meets The Space Station) and the warm welcome from Mike and the team brings an immediate sense of ease & wellbeing. Mike's calm, reassuring manner and skilful, trauma-informed approach have enabled me to submit to treatment that 40 years of psychiatry, psychology and counselling sessions did not achieve.

The treatment itself, due to his clinical expertise and the advanced technology and techniques deployed at the Berkeley, is pleasant, entirely pain free and dare I say, enjoyable! I am now double vaccinated, abscess free, and looking forward to the future with hope and optimism I genuinely never thought possible. I cannot thank Mike and The Berkeley team enough.

Absolutely outstanding experience- for someone who was terrified of dentists. Having avoided dentists at all costs for the last 12 yrs, I finally decided it was time to be brave and address the issues with my teeth. Following a traumatic experience as a young teenager, I'd developed what I now know is ptsd. Therefore I needed someone who would be patient, empathetic and kind and wouldn't push me to go quicker than I was ready to.

From my first zoom call with Dr Mike Gow to each and every time I have been to the Berkeley clinic, I've been treated with empathy, understanding and compassion. I decided to have hypnosis for my trauma before I started any dental treatment. Everything was baby steps, exactly what I needed. So much so that some appointments were literally about just being in the treatment room.

With a gradual build up, I was able to have the treatment I needed. I'm now months on from being terrified to walk through the door. The difference in my teeth and therefore my confidence is incredible. I smile so much more. I smile genuinely. I laugh without worry about people seeing my teeth. I wear lipstick. If you have dental anxiety or phobia, please do call the Berkeley clinic.

I know it's a hard step, but it can and will change your life. I cannot recommend Mike and the team enough. Thank you for all you do. Taking that first step was so hard but it's the best thing I did.

A wonderful dental practice! I was seen by Heather and her team. We discussed composite bonding in order to fix my asymmetric smile. Something I was self conscious of for quite a while. Heather and the team were phenomenal. I felt completely at ease and fully trusted them to give me the smile I always wanted. The service was impeccable. They were able to fit me in to receive my treatment just before my sisters wedding ( they wanted to make sure I felt confident smiling for the wedding photos! ) I am so happy with my smile and would highly recommend them. They really do care!

I would recommend the Berkeley clinic to anyone who wants a professional finish with incredible staff!

Above and Beyond is the only way to describe the experience so far. My daughter thought she could be like The Fall Guy (showing my age now) and do a double somersault on a trampoline, without a net around it and with rocks peppered on the ground for good measure. It didn't end well and required an emergency visit - on a Sunday no less! - and all I can say is, that as parents, we are very, very grateful. Thanks Greig, it is very much appreciated and look forward to continued treatment.

Joined The Berkeley Clinic as I had concerns about spaces in my teeth. Booked in with Heather who was very professional and welcoming. I felt at ease throughout my consultation. I had some composite bonding. I am delighted with the results. I must say Heather is a perfectionist, her attention to detail is exception. I also see Yvonne for my hygiene's. She gives the best hygiene's. So happy I found The Berkeley clinic as I wouldn't go any where else and the team are fab!

Just had another visit to the clinic with Mike for fillings to be done. May sound crazy to some but I'm actually comfortable going on my own as Mike has really helped with my dental phobia so going on my own is a massive step forward for me Especially when I know I'm going for treatments I had a couple of tricky fillings and Mike and the staff keep me at ease and comfort as best they can and I am indebted to them for that Would recommend to anyone who has different and struggled over the years with dental phobia as I can now comfortably and happily say I get my check ups every year and attend appointments knowing I am comfortable and safe Thanks to all the team at the Berkeley you are amazing

The Berkeley Clinic is probably THE place to go for outstanding dentistry in Glasgow. Always made to feel welcomed, the service is second to none and any treatment is always completely pain free. I was never a great fan of visiting the dentist but never have any worries or concerns here. Yes you have to pay for such high quality but as leaders in their fields of practice it is worth it, in my opinion.

I found Mike back in late 2013 while looking for a dentist who could help me face my almost crippling dental phobia and can truthfully say I'm so glad that I that did. In the near seven years I've been lucky enough to be coming here I've had nothing but positive experiences and it's no exaggeration to say that I feel like I've conquered my phobia. All the team from Mike and more recently Stewart to the nurses, hygienists and everyone involved have been fantastic. I really couldn't not recommend them highly enough!

My daughter Ella unfortunately knocked the majority of her top front adult teeth out by a swing. We managed to get the remaining part sealed and were recommended Dr Libi Almuzian who provided the most incredible support from our first call. I have never encountered someone who can engage so well with children whilst ensuring the best possible treatment is carried out. Ella absolutely adored Dr Libi - from her Disney sing a longs to her treasure chest toy hunt!

Her enthusiasm for paediatric dentistry is outstanding - she has the most unbelievable ability to make child/parent/carer have the most relaxed and enjoyable experience. Could not recommend Dr Libi enough!

One of the best customer care experiences I’ve ever had. It was calm, relaxing, enjoyable. I didn’t want to leave.
I’ve had an aggressive abscess for a few months. Painful, 5 courses of antibiotics then dental surgery a few weeks ago to try to get rid of it without losing my front tooth. It returned last week! 😭 But there are signs it’s going.

But I was really worried about 2 things -
1) getting Covid when my body is already fighting an infection
2) the abscess returning during a lockdown and I end up getting it out at a dental hospital and being toothless at the front.
I’m not worried now.
*Greig gave me a strategy for how long we will wait before extraction.
*He also gave me a strategy for what we will do if they get early notification of lockdown (I won’t be toothless! I’ll get a back up plate even if I still have my tooth.

How cool is that?)
*He told me the current guidelines of what the governing bodies have told them.
*He explained why I could have had a flare up in fairly detailed terms in relation to my allergy steroid nasal spray.
*He explained all the positive indicators that my body is fighting it off. He knows I like the details! Excellent service. Been coming for years. Highly recommend.

My daughter age 6 received treatment for an abscess under a baby tooth. From the diagnosis to the removal of the tooth my daughter and myself were kept completely at ease. The dentist Libby was wonderful. She kept my daughter calm and continually explained every procedure she was doing.
Libby is vibrant, kind and has a wonderful manner with the children.
An added extra fabulous touch was a visit to Libby’s treasure chest. Full of goodies(toys not sweets) for my brave daughter to choose a treat.
Fabulous dentist. Fabulous clinic. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE BERKELEY CLINIC.

Absolutely delighted with my experience of the Berkeley clinic so far. All Staff have been so accommodating and friendly and Dr Cowie has been amazing. She put me at ease straight away with her lovely nature and total professionalism. I have just finished my ‘clear and correct’ bracing treatment. Cannot recommend this enough. The whole process only took 12 weeks with very little discomfort throughout.

The retainers are very discreet and can be removed for eating and cleaning. Looking forward to my finishing touches of whitening and bonding. Highly recommend the clinic and all the staff, heather you have been amazing! Thank you so much

Everyone I've met during appointments at the Berkeley Clinic has been both friendly and helpful, along with going out of their way to make me feel comfortable at the dentist. The atmosphere really makes the clinic - there's so much light, and the lounge to wait in makes me want to redecorate! Thank you.

I'm sorta doing this review on behalf of my boyfriend and fellow Yelp partner in crime. Yeah, that's right, Mr B - I'm stealing the first review, bitch! The Berkeley Clinic specialises in cosmetic dentistry and cosmetic treatments such as Botox. For teeth, they seem very clued up and professional. Their dentists are very prestigious and have won awards, including Young Dentist of the Year.

The Clinic couldn't really be described as a surgery - it's clean, more like a salon. It's very progressive, and the Clinic has brought new teeth repairing techniques to Glasgow, such as 6 week orthodontics and safe ways of removing mercury amalgam fillings. They do this in a very secure setting, and make sure that the patient doesn't inadvertantly breathe in the fumes of their old mercuy filling.

In the long term, it keeps your mouth clean and safe. They seem very quick and apt at getting to the source of your oral problems, seeing that the patient is kept in the know at all times on what treatment is best for them. It's very personal, and their non evasive way of scanning teeth and projecting the results to the patient quickens lengthy, archaic procedures of taking moulds.

They also have panic buttons on the side of their chairs so if you are geting a filling or feel uncomfortable in any way, you can stop treatment immediately by turning off the equipment. This gives the patient a feeling of control, which is the idea behind why they put such techniques in place. They run an anxiety workshop to help alleviate your fears even further. Crowns, veneers and bridges are costly, but the lasting effects seem aboslutely excellent.

The dentists work alongside the guys who do shows such as Extreme Makeover, so as far as cosmetic dentistry goes they are great at bringing the magic. Overall, the Berkeley Clinic's consultations and procedures take you out of the chair and into modern dentistry. My boyfriend received a goodie bag that looked like he'd been away a spa weekend, and his dentist is giving him a diet program to help keep future tooth decay at bay.

They are equally as good at helping the patient realise why their teeth are a certain way, and giving them control over fixing the problem. I have a really bad snaggle tooth and know what it's like to have a smile that I'm a wee bit embarrassed of. I would give an arm and aleg to get my teeth fixed in here, because as the Clinic outline they know that adults can feel socially insecure if they aren't proud of their teeth.

The professionals here encourage good habits and offer great techniques which can give you a Hollywood smile years before braces can. When I have more money, I'll stop by the Clinic and swap my fang for some sparkly gnashers, and it'll be a good day!
